Wednesday 7 October
What a turn up for the books - actual rain!! I tipped out 10mm this morning, which is not enough but is very welcome. I see they have had 8mm at Towcester which has just eased the ground ahead of their season curtain raiser this afternoon. It will at least mean that the horses will be able to get on the turf, and can step up their work. The forecast is for an unsettled week this week, followed by a return to the drier conditions of the past month next week, followed by a distinctly unsettled period starting the week after (19 October). With this in mind Stuart has started to press the buttons with one or two, so that they will be spot on when the rain arrives (fingers crossed)!! He had a sit on Rousing Rob yesterday, and reported him to be in great form.
