Omaruru Wins

Omaruru joined the Fences Farm 'Roll Of Honour' yesterday at Newbury, when he got his head in front in their opening race, the Juvenile Hurdle. A beautiful spring day at one of the countrys leading tracks brought out a good few of his enthusiastic owners, who enjoyed the thrill of a lifetime, as he crossed the line in front. Going into the race, it was reasonable to expect to finish second behind the well touted, long odds on shot, Moose Moran from the all conquering Nicky Henderson yard, but as you will have read on Thursday I thought we could be in the shake up. We have been aware for some time that Omar would appreciate a step up in trip, but were also mindful of keeping him to his own age group, so the comprimise was to go to Newbury, a big galloping track where stamina is a premium, for their Juvenile Hurdle. Omaruru went to the races looking fantastic, and well done to Annie who won the 'Best Turned Out' with our boy - he looked a picture! But half way down the back straight it looked as if things were not going to go our way, but when Sam had him tagged on to the coat tails of the leaders as they swung into the straight I knew we would be in the mix up! Jumping to the front 3 out, Sam tracked over to grab the running rail and set sail for home. Omar jumped very very well, and was still in front jumping the last when the spectre of AP McCoy on the ultra tough Two Kisses loomed up on the far side. Omar dug in and crossed the line to win by a neck - a hard fought and well deserved success. He returned to the winners enclosure to a rousing ovation form his owners, who then had the pleasure of sipping champagne in the Royal Box no less. A great day, and a Newbury winner is another dream ticked of of my personal list - Cheltenham next!!! Ogee travels to Doncaster today for their Grimthorpe Chase, the track and ground will suit, but it has not been the easiest of seasons so far with him, and it will just be nice for the team to get a run into him having gone to both Newbury and Ascot in recent weeks only to come home without running. Lureyno also makes the trip, but unfortunately his chances are a little less obvious in the Novices Hurdle. Thanks, and well done to Mrs Robeson and her team for a fantastic day yesterday, I think there are many more to come from Omaruru as, for a horse that we know needs a trip, he has done something that none of the stable stars of the recent past have manged to do - win over 2 miles! The dreams begin! p.s Shares still available, and because I am in such a good mood, they remain at the pre win prices! What more do you want for 20/week 07909 518902 to have a piece of the action, or email me at info@nickbrownracing.co.uk. Several people jumped at the chance yesterday, so don't hang about.
