Friday 15 March
This is the day in the jumps calender that every jumps fan is waiting for every year - Gold Cup Day.For Trainers, Jockeys Owners and staff, so many plans, and plots have been made, scrapped rearranged and altered over the last 12 months that the whole festival has so much significant meaning - it really is very special. This morning our thoughts are with JT McNamara, who took a horrible fall yesterday, and is currently in an induced coma in a Bristol hospital awaiting further tests on a spinal injury - we wish him a speedy mend. Condolences also to the connections of Mathui who took a crashing fall at the last, and unfortunately paid the ultimate price. We have been there - it is a black feeling! Today, if you are heading to the festival take a raincoat - heavy rain forecast! This will change the ground - making finding winners twice as hard - although those of you who have looked at my selections this week no doubt think I find it doubly difficult anyway!! To be fair I have found a few, and am still in front - although there are a few of you who have ignored me and done very well!!! Today I am looking at horses with course form - Rolling Star in the first and At Fishers Cross in the third. There are plenty with course form in the Gold Cup itself, non more so than Bobs Worth - but I've been with Silviniaco Conti for 2 seasons so will not desert him now! Don't know a heap about Foxhunters but will side with Chapoturgeon, and will take Gevry Chambertin to win the last under Tom Bellamy. Good Luck everyone and enjoy!! Back at home Tannerman has been entered for Chepstow and Huntingdon next Thursday, and will miss his engagements tomorrow and Monday. Benefit Cut will also stay at home tomorrow, and will be entered in Newbury and Bangor next Saturday. San Telm is off games once again and we will have an indepth investigation into what may be ailing him next week, after which we will discuss plans. Colebrooke is also off games and will go for a whold body scan on Tuesday. Smart Exit is in good order and has an entry in Warwick on Wednesday.
