Wednesday 21 March
A welcome change! Sunshine this morning, and a good morning to see horses work, with the two Johns, in to see their horses. After breakfast we got to see a few lovely bits of work - Classic Ben looks great (seen here cantering before he worked) and he did a super piece of work with Clondaw Native - showing his workmate a clean pair of heels. Both horses look to be heading for Haydock on easter Saturday, for the Challenger Series Stayers Final. Clondaw Native was due to run at The Festival, but was balloted out, and so he is re routed to Haydock. Haydock has always been the plan for Classic Ben, as although rated the same as Clondaw Native - we felt that this race was the better course for him. Ciaran will have a difficult decision as to which one to ride. Molly Childers looked good in the sun - and did a lovely piece of work - having talked to Stuart this morning, Molly will bypass the Haydock race that the other two are heading for, and will instead be aimed at Mares Races in April, with the most suitable option being in Kempton on the 9th, which may free up a crack at a decent prize in Ayr on the 20th. Land League seems to be back on song, and he will start to have entries very soon, with a number of options pencilled in from the 29th in Towcester. Also in this group was Sneaking Budge, who as usual worked really well, and he needs one more piece of work before he runs. His options start at Towcester on the 29th, with several entries for him between then and the 7 April. Queenohearts has done her job for the season with victory in the Listed Bumper in Sandown, and is ticking over until it is warm and dry enough to turn her out for the summer. Although ticking over, the time isn't being wasted as she is having a school over hurdles as well, and Stuart reports her to have schooled well yesterday. Between 2nd and third lot we got to see new girl Getaway Mixie have a canter with Reyno. She is a gorgeous mare, with a lovely nature, and she really looked the part cantering past us. As you can see from the video she has a beautiful demeanour, and a lovely low action - she should be fine to run in a bumper this spring. There are just a couple of shares left in Getaway Mixie, and she can be seen on the For Sale page, we have a lovely crop of young mares including 2 black type performers - and this one looks like a worthy addition to the squad - she could well go to Cheltenham next month! Third Lot saw some more good pieces of work. Mister Miyagi worked in front with Domesday Book - good to see them both back, but the eyecatchers were in behind with Pull Together cruising along with Now McGinty, hot on the heels of the pair in front. Kaloci was in this group, and although she was not asked to do too much as she doesn't need to she did the usual and just wanted to get on with things under Megan. She seems in rude health ahead of her big date in Newbury on Saturday. One that was out before breakfast was 'Lily', the half sister to Kaloci, and over a cup of tea Stuart said she is just like her older sister - she had her first canter this morning, and most horses will have a skip and a buck and at the very least be a bit green - not our Lily, she has the tough family trait, and just went off like a rocket!! She seems to be just like Kaloci, small and hearty, and we all like her very much. Shares have been going quickly in her with another 4 sold yesterday - so get in touch if you would like to get involved in her - she is great value at just £540 all inc until the 1st of July, and £25/week after that. email@example.com or 07909 518902.
