Sunday 27 September
Last week we broke the news that we had secured one of the horses we had been tracking throughout the season in France, and that she was heading to the UK. On Tuesday evening Volkovka arrived at Jason Maguires' Ivy Lodge Farm near Gloucester. He sent a great video of her coming off of the box, and even gave her a bit of a trot up and sent that over as well. She is a lovely filly, and I was not disappointed when I popped in to see her on Wednesday. She has size and scope and shortly after I left, Jason had her popping over some poles in the loose school, and sent across the clip - she is a natural, very professional, and Jason really likes her. A big thank you to Jason and the team at Ivy Lodge Farm for all of the clips that they send through - I,and therefore the owners are kept informed of every stage the horses are at - this is such an important part of the service, and I am very grateful in these times when quite a few folk are not leaving home for anything other than necessary journeys. Volkovka has proved very popular - and why wouldn't she? She's a daughter of super sire Camelot, she has size and scope, and is from a strong French middle distance family. She was a 57,000 Euro 2 yr old last year, and is an 81 rated winner this summer. She even contested a Listed race in Italy in August. Shares were quickly reserved, again, with a mixture of new and returning owners, who are all looking forward to her going into training with Fergal O'Brien. There is a super series of races for the juvenile fillies, with three chances of gaining valuable black type, and her campaign will be all geared up around these races. There are just a couple of shares left available so get in touch if you would like further details - firstname.lastname@example.org or 07909 518902 Whilst in Jasons it was good to see the Kapgarde filly (must give her a stable name at least) who looked great - she has made great strides and is now ready to head off for a couple of weeks R&R to get over the excitement of the sales, change of home, being broken in and ridden. She will come back in next month and be pre trained ready to go to Fergal O'Briens. We also popped in to see Yauthym at Ravenswell Farm - she too looks great and should be ready to run in a couple of weeks. We did have three entries from Fences Farm this week, but with the ground conditions a bit on the quick side, it looks as though they may all miss their races and wait for genuine good ground. Molly Childers has definitely not been declared and Go Millie Go and Our Bubba look likely to miss out as well. Plans for future syndicates continue - along with our breeding syndicate - Savingforvegas was scanned in foal to Blue Bresil - so there are just 4 days to put your name on the list to breed a Blue Bresil foal in 2021, and have the thrill of watching it grow and mature into a racehorse and run on the track!
