Sunday 30 May

It is always a pleasure to offer quality horses, and it has always been our model to wait for the right horse, buy it, and offer it when appropriate. It is a system that has served us really well - it does mean that some of our clients have to be patient when it comes to getting a horse, but when we do it tends to be the right one! The good thing about this way of working is that when we do offer a horse for syndication these days it tends to sell out very quickly, as we have a waiting list for shares at all levels. Last weekend was another busy couple of days. On Friday I offered shares in the gorgeous Camelot Filly that we bought back from Doncaster Sales. After an incredible response, and sending out over 70 emails - by Sunday she was fully subscribed - with a list of folks that 'missed the cut' as well. She is a very exciting filly, and will head to Jason Maguires to be broken in, and remain there for pre training before heading off to start her career with Olly Murphy later this year. Olly is really looking forward to training her and has already sent her syndicate members a video message welcoming them to Nick Brown Racing, and inviting them all to his Warren Chase Stables. I can't wait to get going with her - she is an exciting filly - we had a number of trainers who saw her at the sales get in touch to train her for us - so it looks like she could be a lovely prospect!! Elsewhere all is quiet - with only Yauthym remaining in full work. I had planned to get to see her yesterday, but unforeseen circumstances prevented me from going down to Ravenswell Farm, but I will get there in the next few days. Yauthym is really well, and having learned that we can't ask her to go back to the races too soon after her previous run, we are being patient and enjoying her last winning run for a while - she will be out again in a couple of weeks! Queenohearts is now out in the big field with a few mates, and has recovered well from the injury that kept her off the track after just one run last winter. The vet is really happy with her, and he has advised a programme for her return from this injury which will be carefully managed, and she will be given the very best chance of getting a full season in, a season that will see her make her chasing debut. Her half sister, 'Mini', now named Oue Seans Girl, is absolutely blossoming down with Jason Maguire - he likes her a lot, and she is now enjoying some summer sun out in the field. Having come from the north of Ireland in the winter, she has been broken and ridden away and has had plenty of education and has certainly blossomed for it - she is an exciting addition to the squad! Along 23 of the new Camelot filly syndicate being new to NBR and many new to ownership, it was lovely to get to meet two new owners this week. Tim and Christine are very local, and have been following what we do for some time. They have had shares in racehorses before, and after meeting their new boy at The Elms Stud this week, they are keen to meet the rest of the syndicate. Owning racehorses is a lot more than just having winners - it is the sense of community that being in a syndicate can offer that appeals to so many, Tim and Chris included. Their new boy heads to Fergal O'Brien in early July to begin his journey to the winners enclosure! Classic Ben has recovered from the procedure that he underwent to tidy up some tired joints that saw an early end to last seasons campaign. He is now out in the field and looking well. Go Millie Go is also out, and will be back to go novice chasing next season. Volkovka is down with Jason Maguire, she has had a couple of nasty infections since we decided to call time on her highly successful juvenile hurdles campaign which saw her end with two wins, and some valuable black type - so her full time turn out has been delayed, but we are nearly there - and she will have a spell in the field before returning to Fergal in August. A novice chase campaign has been mentioned for her. Hidden Beauty is summering well at The Elms - she is a gorgeous filly, and one we are really looking forward to seeing make her racecourse debut this autumn. From what we saw of her this spring, she will be well worth the wait - she is a lovely filly! Blue Bikini is another young lady that we are looking forward to seeing again later this year. She will be making her debut over hurdles in the autumn. Despite suffering from extreme ulcers for the first part of the winter, she was placed in 3 of her 4 bumper runs, and we all believe there is more to come from her when she is healthy and well and jumping hurdles. As she has shown a very decent level of from last season we are slightly surprised that a number of shares have become available in her this spring - with a number of shareholders transferring to other horses. Please get in touch if you would like a share in this lovely young filly that has already schooled really well over hurdles. nickbrownracing@gmail.com - shares are just £25/wk all inc. Auditoria is another young filly that is thriving for the first holiday of her career. She is looking really well. A winner has already emerged from her last run - so that form has been franked, and we are sure that there is an awful lot more to come from her. Olly is really looking forward to getting her back and preparing her for a season in mares novices' hurdles. We are also looking forward to working with other trainers this year - and especially excited about working with our first flat trainer next month. David Menuisier is a very talented trainer, who had a real breakthrough season last year, with dual Group 1 winner Wonderful Tonight. I got to know David a couple of years ago, and his knowledge of the French programme book will be very helpful with the plans that we have going forward. The first horse he will have will be on behalf of a client, but we are also looking to have a horse with him in the Red, Black and White - Having been a jumps orientated syndicate group for over 20 years - it is about time that we bit the bullet and offered something for some summer flat fun - again as highlighted at the start of todays news, we will adopt the same strategy of waiting for the right horse, so it could be next week, or it could be in a couple of months, but if you would like to be involved then please get in touch. Talking of the French programme book - we have not forgotten about the Anglo/French syndicate we were planning last year. We actually had a horse for the syndicate, but just as we were about to finalise the deal, the Government stopped all international travel, meaning that we had to shelve the plans. As the country starts to get back to something a bit more normal, we will be revisiting this. A horse with Francois Nicolle, the top jumps trainer in France, who is close to an airport in a gorgeous part of France, which happens to be home to one of the best sides in European Rugby! Champion trainer, Horses, Rugby, beer wine and food - along with amazing prize money, subsidised horse transport, and very favourable training fees - what is not to like! Stay tuned for more details when we can make it all work - it will be an awful lot of fun! Continuing with the sporting theme, Fences Farm are restarting the annual Cricket Match between owners and Eversholt CC - I have a save the date message that I have tried to send out, but for some reason it would only send to one recipient! I will try again - but for now - the date to save is Thursday July 8th at 5.30pm at Eversholt CC.
