Last week started well - On Bank Holiday Monday I was fortunate enough to be able to visit one of the very best National Hunt Studs in the country. A beautiful place, with equally beautiful horses. There were certainly some stars of the future there! The same day it was confirmed that Savingforvegas was in foal again. Having produced four out of four bay colts, three by Blue Bresil, she is in foal to Falco this year. Falco is a sire I have always liked, and I think he represents fantastic value for UK based breeders. With Blue Bresil now being based in Ireland, and the complexities of moving horses due to Brexit - I felt that this was the year to use him, and once again Vegas came up trumps, and was confirmed in foal at the first attempt. With her in foal again - we will launch another breeding syndicate later this year, when the current 12 month term on her comes to an end. The only horse currently in training is Yauthym, and she will have entries around the 20/21 June. She is reported to be in fine form, and we are all looking forward to seeing her out on the track again. The form of her last winning start is looking solid, so with luck she can go very close again. At this time of year we start to get geared up for getting the horses back to their trainers, so that the can begin the preparation for the autumn and winter jumps campaigns. With regard to the horses that we lease from owners, we sit down with them in June, discuss the previous season in terms of performance, and health and well being and make any changes that we feel are necessary. This has lead to one change this year - Blue Bikini will move from Fences Farm to Ravenswell Farm. She is a mare that has suffered very badly from ulcers, and we feel that a change would suit her. We thank all of the team at Fences Farm for their hard work with her - as she isn't the easiest. Everything else remains as it was. Auditoria returns to Olly Murphy who will visit The Elms in the next couple of weeks to see some horses, when we will discuss a date for her return. It will be either the 1st or the 14th of July. She will be joined by the Camelot Filly later in the year, she will broken and pre trained by Jason Maguire later in the summer. Along with Blue Bikini, Fergal O'Brien will have Hidden Beauty who will start in bumpers and is very exciting. Volkovka who could go novice chasing at some stage next season. Yauthym who will tip away through the summer, Our Seans Girl who will join the team after pre training with Maguire, and be aimed at Bumpers after Christmas. The Mamool 3 yr old, who will head there on July 1st, and be aimed at Junior bumpers. On the advice of her vet, Queenohearts will go to Ivy Lodge Farm to be pre trained. The facilities there will help no end with her return to the track. Classic Ben and Go Millie Go will return to Fences Farm. It has been another busy spell - due to unfortunate circumstances for one client, shares became available in a few of the horses, but thankfully these have all been quickly snapped up, along with most of the shares that were available in Blue Bikini. We now have just a couple of shares available across the whole of the 10 horse team, and we thank everyone for their continued support. We are looking to add another young horse to the team very soon. We have a group that are waiting for a horse, and we hope to have secured one for them in the next few weeks. We are also selling two at the Derby Sale later this month - two lovely big horses, that we can't wait to show off. Work begins on the new Web Site this month with filming and photography starting. The site will be ready to launch later this year. When we see how the relaxation of restrictions goes on the 21st, we hope to be able to revisit the French Syndicate we were hoping to have up and running by now. The success of this venture obviously relies heavily on the ability to travel to France, so we shelved plans when this became tricky. I have had a further enquiry about shares in this just last week - so it is something I really hope to be able to get up and running when the time is right!
