Sunday 5 September

Another week with plenty going on! We had hoped to add two more horses to the team this week - we didn't get them both - but we did get one. In the next few days a lovely 4 yr old daughter of the great Westerner will arrive from Ireland and head to Jason Maguires to begin her pre training. She is a lovely filly, with a superb pedigree. Westerner is a top class sire, and she is a half sister to two black type horses in the Grade 2 placed Shantou Bob, and Uncle Danny who were both rated in the mid 140's at their best. She will head into training with Fergal O'Brien after her spell with Jason, and will be aimed at mares bumpers this season. We are delighted to have her in the team, and she is proving very popular. Shares are just £25/wk all inclusive, with no capital cost. please get in touch for more details. nickbrownracing@gmail.com. With plans to branch out into the flat scene, we had hoped to add a nice yearling to the squad at the BBAG yearling sale in Germany on Friday - sadly we didn't hit the mark, but there are plenty of opportunities coming up over the coming weeks! On Tuesday I grabbed a quick visit to The Elms Stud to see all the stock there. Barry the foal has taken weaning in his stride, and Mum has come to terms with it as well, although I'm not sure she has forgiven everyone yet! All the stock looked great, and we may have news on one of those next week! Wednesday we headed to Newmarket for their Horses In Training sale - only 2 lots of interest - and on inspection we felt neither were for us. Yesterday was a busy day to say the least. It was great to see nearly 60 owners and members make the trip to Ravenswell Farm to see the horses we have in training with Fergal. The sun shone, and the yard and gallops looked fantastic. All were treated to freshly cooked breakfast rolls, tea coffee, and of course cakes! The horses all did three times round the round gallop before heading across to do a couple of ascents of the hill. Yauthym and Hidden Beauty (little and large) were out third lot. Both looked great - Hidden Beauty is a real eye catcher, and is held in very high regard. She does everything very easily. Yauthym is in rude health - she took a fierce grip on her second time up, and really wanted to crack on! Fourth lot we got to see the Mamool 3 yr old and Blue Bikini out. The Mamool is now sold out and will be named this coming week. He is a very impressive individual, and seems to be blessed with a nice amount of ability - he will be ready to run in a junior bumper next month. Blue Bikini is thriving - her ulcers are under control - she was scoped a couple of weeks ago, and was clear (she will be scoped again in mid Sept). Her work is good and she will be ready to run in about a month, when she will make her hurdling debut. After a good catch up with everyone a few of us headed off to Jason Maguires to see the horses there. The new filly cantered, and has a really good mind! She will head off out into the field now, for a break. Her new owners were very impressed with her, and even more impressed to see a Grand National winning jockey ride her! Queenohearts looked great, and Volkovka looks twice the filly this year! Lunch on the way home at The Kilkenny - great to see Kev and Jules, and get a fantastic lunch in the sun! While at Fergs I received a fantastic video update from Birthday Boy Olly Murphy, with some great clips and slow mo's of Auditoria and an update on her progress. These updates are brilliant, and gratefully received, a real help. We also got a clip from Fences Farm this week, and saw Go Millie Go moving well at exercise. The coming week sees us on the road again - Newmarket on Tuesday - Doncaster on Wednesday and Yorton Farm on Thursday. Should be fun! We welcomed several new owners and members last week, and look sure to be adding to that list in the coming days - get in touch to join in the fun!
