The Length Of It

I will just about be covering the entire length of England this week - from Lands End to Northumberland with Sussex and Gloucester scattered in there too. All the winter horses are now settled into their yards, and in full work, and we are getting close to the first entries of the season, with a couple with options pencilled in. At Fences Farm, Go Millie Go and Classic Ben were both scanned this week. Go Millie Go ran on ground that she found too quick for her in Cheltenham in April, and was scanned prior to her summer holiday as a precaution. Her scan was not 100%, so she had some treatment before she went out, and the vet wanted to make sure that all was well before she was asked to do faster work.

Classic Ben has a joint issue earlier this year and had work done - this procedure seems to have been a success, but there was an unforeseen problem that has meant he has had to have a little extra time to recover. Both scans were positive, Go Millie Go can commence faster work and will be ready to run by the time there is suitable ground, and Classic Ben can resume short canters every other day. At Ravenswell there is now the full compliment of horses (for now) with Volkovka joining the rest of the team there after pre training at Jason Maguires. She is in fantastic form, and has really grown and strengthened over the summer - if her physique is anything to go by, there should be a lot more to come from her this winter. She will be ready to run in late Oct/early November on her favoured soft ground.

Yauthym is in flying form and worked really well this week. She has an entry pencilled in for the end if this month. Blue Bikini has schooled really well, and looks a natural. She to will be ready to run at the end of the month - and will start in a mares novice or maiden hurdle. Hidden Beauty is still catching the eye, and will be ready to make her debut in a bumper when there is suitably juicy ground. The last share in the Mamool gelding is now sold, and he nearly got a name this week - sadly the name that was the overwhelming choice of the owners was available but fell at the final hurdle when it didn't pass the phonetic test with the BHA - deemed to sound to similar to another horse currently running. We will try again this week. Whatever he gets called he is horse you will hear more about for sure.

At Olly Murphys, Auditoria continues to impress, she is now cantering 2m per day, and schooling one day a week. She simply loves her jumping, and will be ready to run in 3/4 weeks when there is some suitable ground. At Jason Maguires - new girl Betty Has settled in well, she is being ridden away, and is a really nice ride. She has been very popular, and the take up of shares has been great - why wouldn't it be - a half sister to two 140+ rated horses, and by Westerner - she will be lots of fun - get in touch if you would like to join in - just £25/week all inc.

The Soldier Of Fortune filly is now out on a break, and will return to work next month, where she will be joined at Jasons by the Camelot filly, who is currently enjoying the last of the summer at The Elms. Good to catch up with the owners of Queenohearts this week, if not in person then over the phone. She is looking and moving as well as I've ever seen her, and will be ready to move on to the next stage of her journey back to the racecourse soon.
