                    OLD BLUE EYES (Blue Bresil x Savingforvegas)

      Old Blue Eyes (Frank) is a homebred, and we are delighted to have retained him to be able to syndicate him to run in our colours. He is 3 years old and has just been broken in by Jason Maguire at his Ivy Lodge Farm. Jason was very impressed with him and feels that he has a lovely future ahead of him, as his pedigree would suggest.

         He is by non-other than Blue Bresil, currently the hottest National Hunt sire on the planet, largely due to the world beating exploits of his son Constitution Hill, along with a host of other top class performers including Blue Lord, and Royale Pagaille, along with the multiple French Grade 1 winning mare, L’Autonomie.

The progeny of Blue Bresil have really been catching the eye of the best judges at the sales, with his stock averaging 98.500 Euros at last years Tattersalls Derby Sale, against a whole sale average of 57,903 Euros

          His dam is Savingforvegas who is a half-sister to Cheltenham Festival winner, Rathvinden, and is a mare we originally purchased for a client, for whom she went on to win her bumper and a novice hurdle before injury curtailed her career on the track. It was such a shame that she was injured, as in winning what turned out to be her final start, she defeated two subsequent Listed winners, and would have undoubtably gone on to gain black type herself.

Her first foal was also by Blue Bresil and was placed in a bumper on his only start to date, her second foal, Dino Bellagio, was retained by us, and has won 2 of his first four starts in bumpers. He is trained by Donald Mccain and is held in very high regard. He will be competing in Pattern level novice hurdles next season, and is a horse that Donald holds in very high regard.

          Having been so successful with Dino Bellagio it is only right that Donald McCain should get the opportunity to train Old Blue Eyes, and after a summers break he will head back to Jason Maguires, to continue his education before heading up to Donalds Bankhouse Stables. Donald will aim Old Blue Eyes at bumpers and National Hunt Juvenile hurdles in the 2023/24 season.

          Given his pedigree, by Blue Bresil out of a very talented half sister to a Cheltenham Festival winner who has already bred a dual bumper winner – we are very excited by this young horse and can’t wait to see what he can do on the track!
