Thursday 17 July

Well. It has been a few days of fun for sure! All is fairly quiet on the 'horses in training' front - but the sales horses on the other hand - well that has been interesting to say the least. I should be flying back from Ireland as I type this, but instead I am sat in the office, and my head is spinning. 9 Days ago - just 48 hours before our horses were due to embark on their trip to the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale - it was called off. Everyone was left stunned, but to be fair - not entirely surprised - as the Irish Governments policy on quarantine for overseas visitors, always looked as though it precluded any sale taking place, let alone the industry flagship Derby Sale. Our horses were primed to the day, and looked fantastic - Louise and her team have done a fantastic job with them, and the postponement, really did throw a spanner in the works. The industry has rallied, and thankfully the sales companies have got together and produced a formula that has really helped UK consigned horses to the 2 big store sales in Ireland by offering places in a supplementary catalogue at the Goffs UK Summer Sale in Doncaster. Our horses will now head there. We will now be offering 4 horses at the sale. A Crillon gelding, who's half brother we sold last year for 65,000 Euros. A No Risk At All Gelding, who should be popular as he is out of a winning mare and by the sire of this years Champion Hurdler, and a beautiful and very athletic Coastal Path. These three are offered by Whitwick Bloodstock Ltd, and one of our other investment syndicates, Boleyn Bloodstock Ltd, will offer a cracking Manduro Gelding, who is a really good walking and well balanced young horse. The first three will be sold from 3pm on Monday 27th of July, the Manduro will be sold early on in the sale on Day 3, (Wednesday). This will just leave one horse left to sell, a very very nice son of Saddler Maker, who is destined to go to the Goffs Landrover Sale in mid August - always assuming that this sale goes ahead of course! The horses have all settled back into their pre training - Yauthym has just started to have a little canter down at Fergals. Land League will be ready to run in 2-3 weeks, Figarella Borget is fine after her last hurdle fall in Stratford last time out, but wasn't given a handicap mark, so she will be aimed at a mares novices hurdle in Southwell on the 30th July. I have to say, I have been really surprised by the interest in a new syndicate that I mentioned last time. We already know the type of horse we will be getting, and the trainer that will have the pleasure of it's company, so if you would like more details then please get in touch and I will fill you in. The syndicate will be made up of just 9 share holders, and quite a few have already taken up the option of a share. As ever - we have a plan in place, which, should it come off, give plenty of good days out at very good tracks, and result in a considerable increase in capital value. nickbrownracing@gmail.com 07909 518902
