Monday 13 October

A typically quiet Monday morning, although Sam did come up to give Kikos a little school, and all went well. Being a slow news day it does give me an opportunity to tell you about a new venture that I am putting together for the forthcoming Point to Point season. As you will know the Point to Point field is an ideal schooling ground for fledgling National Hunt horses. Somewhere where they can go and learn their trade, and develop the skills needed to run under rules. I believe I have unearthed the ideal candidate to run in a few point to points before joining the National Hunt horses next season. The horse I have purchased is a 5yr old chesnut gelding, by Classic Cliche out of an Old Vic mare called Dominant Duchess. His Sire, Classic Cliche, was a top class racehorse, he won the Dante Stakes at York as a 3 yr old before going on to win the St Ledger that year. As a 4 yr old he broke the track record at York in the Yorkshire Cup before going on to win the Ascot Gold Cup beating Double Trigger. His dam Dominant Duchess was herself a high class racemare, winning at Royal Ascot and finishing second in the Cesaravitch at Newmarket. She won a total of 6 races and £92,000 between the ages of 3 and 6 years, and finished her career with a flat handicap mark of 96. This gelding is in my opinion a high class point to point prospect, and will be trained by Michael Kehoe at Stewkley near Leighton Buzzard. If anyone would like to join me in this venture then let me know as I will lease shares in him for the forthcoming season for as little as £10 per week.
