Sunday 2 November

A second place from Kikos on Friday followed by a brace of them today! A really enjoyable afternoon at Huntingdon today with 2 runners. Mattaking first up in the handicap chase.Well done to Bev, who won another Best Turned Out prize with him. This was his chasing debut, and having schooled well at home he translated it to the course and put in a fine display of jumping to finish a galant second. Never one to be known for his courage, the bigger obstacles, and the re-application of cheek pieces, allied with a very good ride from Sam meant that he battled it out to the line just going down by 3/4 of a length. The softer ground was not a bother, and the step up in trip was handled well, so we really do have a few more options with him now. I was, along with the members of The Ravenstone Partnership, thrilled to bits with the run, and hopefully if his confidence is bolstered he will go one better soon! Next up was Ogee in a really hot Novices Hurdle. With no strong gallop on offer Jimmy McCarthy took it up turning in and tried to make it more of a test, and he was just foiled by a nice prospect from the Alan King yard. A good run from Ogee with a penalty for his Uttoxeter win, he is so much sharper this year, and his hurdling has improved no-end. Lets hope he is winning again soon. All in all a really nice afternoon, and great to catch up with friends, some of whom I have not seen for years (I hope you come to see us soon)!! The horses remain in grand form and let's hope we can break the run of seconds and go one better in the near future!
