Bobby Gee finally got his go today, after having his last three tries at a run abandoned. He travelled to Wincanton for a very tight and competitive handicap hurdle. He travelled down well (as usual) and settled into the racecourse stables in good time. Trish was leadihg him up (withy sore ribs after a hunting spill) and turned him out looking a million dollars, and it was no surprise to see him win another 'Best Turned Out'. Once again well done, and thankyou Trish.Overnight rain had left the course very testing, and all of Bobby's guts would be needed for him to triumph in this sort of race. It was felt beforhand that there may be a lot of pace on, so the plan was to settle in mid div. Hunt round for a circuit and creep into the race on the second. Sam rode a brilliant race - Bobby was a bit on and off the bridle with him, possibly not enjoying the hurly burly in the pack, but when it looked as though he would slip back as they exited the back straight Sam gave him a tap on the tail and the response was immediate - Bobs was back on the game. He tagged onto the tails of the leaders as they raced into the home straight and summoned up all of his reserves to get to the front two. Unfortunately the eventual winner was very well handicapped and had plenty left, and the second horse had his ideal conditions so it was just to much of a task. But Bobby was so brave and tough and has run a blinder, he really gives his all and is a credit to himself and his owners. He will make a wonderful chaser and a decision will have to be made as to when we make the switch. Everyone is very proud of him, and he is sure to be back to winning ways in the near future. Well done to all!
