Wednesday 15 April
The worst case scenario became a reality yesterday when the handicapper released his adjustments for the previous week. Yes, you guessed it - Kikos has been raised 5lbs to a mark of 108. So not only were we beaten and about 4 inches cost us £1,800 but to add insult to the injury he has been put up 5 which takes us into a slightly higher grade of race - although in fairness he did look a class above the opposition at Hereford so he should be capable of handling the step up in grade. He is in fabulous form and will be out again between April 25 and May 1st. E Major seems fine after his run, but will not be asked 'to run round in circles again' - in the words of Mrs Robeson. Bobby will be schooled over fences now that we have had some rain, and may even travel to Towcester next week, to have a pop over 2 or 3 fences in the home straight the morning after racing. I am going over to see Mattaking and the Kayf Tara filly this evening, Michael ensures me they are really well.
