Monday 24 August
Wow! What a weekend. It all started well on Friday when we all cheered Rock Anthem home in the first at Salisbury. A great result for Mike, Jerry and all the team at Westoning, well done to all. I will be catching up with Mike in the next couple of days, to organise the lease of a horse for the Club, details will follow after our meeting. Great to bowl Australia out on Friday as well, but not great to see 3 wickets go down as we stood in the pub! A beatiful morning at Fences Farm on Saturday, and nice to see Phil Haslam, Brian Holmes and Tom Short, along with Rory and Sharon who came up with their young son Oliver and Sharons mum Ann. Phil Tom and I were all very pleased with Rousing Rob who is going very well - and the dream is very much still intact with this fellow. We just have to avoid sharp objects that may burst the bubble! Jardin de Vienne is now very much full of himself and was bucking and kicking during his canter at first lot!! Bobby has been on the walker for a day or two as he has a sore patch on his withers that needs to heal a bit before he has a saddle on.A real boost to Kikos form as well, as Star Of Germany, who he beat well at Uttoxeter on his penultimate run was the ready winner of a big Listed Chase at Newton Abbot on Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning was a little nervy as we watched the Aussies try and get the biggest fourth innings total ever to win the final test and retain the Ashes. But by mid afternoon all was well, and we went on to a great success. Some series and well done to all involved! A few Australian beers last night to celebrate as we headed out to the Horse And Jockey at Ravensden for a terrific meal. All in all a great few days! Back to work now!!
