Saturday 12 September

Ogee added to the seasons tally yesterday, with a brave and hard fought victory on his chasing debut at Bangor. Given a great ride by Jimmy Macarthy he jumped really well for his first effort over the bigger ones, and battled on after the last, to first overcome the strong travelling Kings Forest, and then hold off the late charge of R De Rien Sivola, to whom he was giving 13lbs!! This was a very decent little race (exceptional for the time of year) and it was a very good win - he will come on a bundle for the run and the experience, and should be seen in some good Novice Chases this year. Once again Icterus ran too free in the bumper and after travelling into contention 3 furlongs out, he was eased and will now try his hand at hurdling. He has got ability but as yet he has not shown his true form since his debut. Both seemed fine this morning and were out in the field enjoying a day off in the sunshine. It really was a beautiful morning, and all the horses worked very well. Daurica and College Ace were a nice pair first lot, and there had been thoughts of entering Daurica for next Sunday but today proved she needs a little more time, and College is in great form. Second lot, we had Rob and Ann Graham up with their friend Micky, to see their horse Rousing Rob who continues to impress, they were joined by Brian and Ollie who were in to see how things were going and catch up on the news about their boy Kikos - who could be coming back to Fences Farm in 2 weeks. Third lot Jardin De Vienne and Bobby Gee cantered with Galoshes and all three went well.
