Ogee cruised to victory yesterday at Southwell. In what was an uncompetitive heat, he jumped well in the main, just running in to the bottom of a couple but never looking like falling and galloped away from the back of the last for an easy 20 length success. With his main rival chucking the towel in after making a very bad error at the last in the back it did not take a lot of winning, but he did it well none-the-less, and it sets him up for his bigger targets in the spring. Sunday Sharpner ran very well on debut in the bumper, just getting tired in the last 3 furlongs, he will improve as he strengthens. Both appear to have come out of their races well. Tomorrow Bobby Gee is declared to run at Huntingdon. The trip of 3 miles should be right up his street and his jumping has been very good at home, so hopefully he will go close. It is a race that is slightly special to me personally, as it is the John Biggs Oxo Chase - John Biggs was a local farmer who owned the 1959 Grand National winner Oxo and was a friend of my late Grandfathers, so it would be lovely to win the race run annually in his honour.
