Friday 26 February

Not the fairy tale 24 hours for Jay Tabb that we were hoping for. With trip and ground looking to be right up his street Bobby managed to let the side down in some style. I must say that the ground at Huntingdon was horrible, and how they ever managed to find any good to soft patches before racing God only knows. It was dead, tacky, horrible muck - but the same for everyone. We knew that we had to ask a few more questions of Bobby yesterday, and for just over a circuit things were going really well. Sam had him travelling and jumping like a buck, but as they headed out on the final circuit they hit the first in the back straight and from that moment on it was 'game over'. Looking at the race last night we decided that despite the ground being awful, after Bobby made his mistake he sulked, and we will resort to some headgear in the future. The very tacky ground did not help his breathing and he will probably sport a tongue tie when he runs next. He seems to have come out of the race OK and we will look to run him in 2-3 weeks when hopefully we will get some slightly better ground. It was a disappointing day for so many of his owners that turned up to see him yesterday - great to see Ian and Mary Burchell, George Milne, Rob and Ann Graham and Ben Turner who dragged along a couple of his Coventry City team mates - club skipper Steven Wright and City and Republic of Ireland keeper Keiron Westwood, - I do wish Bob's had not let you down, I am sure that it was a long trip home!
