Sunday 14 March
We may just have another Kikos on our hands! Kikos was a revelation when we started him on good or faster ground, going up 23lbs in the handicap and giving his owners a huge amount of fun, nearly always running his race and earning plenty of prize money during his season. Jardin De Vienne could prove just the same - he ran a blinder on Friday to be second, sticking to the task really well, and enjoying the better ground, although it was not quite as quick as prescribed and he will definitely benefit from faster ground again. We have run him all winter over excessive trips, and on unsuitable ground - resulting in a favourable handicap mark which he should be able to capitalise on in the near future. Kikos could not get to within 20 lengths of the front on unsuitable ground, and it may be the same story with JDV. We will keep him going through the summer. It was a great start to ownership for Donna Williams who managed to join us and see her boy do her proud. Speaking to her yesterday, she said she 'had an amazing day and was very pleased to be a part of things.' There are still shares available to lease in JDV, so if you would like to go racing through the summer with a very well handicapped horse that is very likely to win a few, then give me a call (07909 518902), he has come out of the race in great order and spent a lovely day in the paddock in the warm spring sunshine. A beautiful morning yesterday up on the hill, and Ogee went very well in his final piece of work before he hopefully goes to Cheltenham on Tuesday. Everyone is really keen to run him in the William Hill Chase - but he does need a few to come out,so it will be squeeky bum time at declarations tomorrow! If he gets in he must have one hell of a chance off of 10st 5lbs! Bobby Gee went well in a tongue tie, and will be entered for Uttoxeter next Saturday, where College Ace will be entered in the Midlands National, and they may well be joined there by Daurica. Millarky runs at Towcester this afternoon, another competitve race, but he has been going well at home - good luck to connections.
