Tuesday is the day that the handicapper publishes his assessments of the performance of horses that have run in the last week. So this morning it was straight to the BHA website to see what he made of Kikos' performance at Uttoxeter. Having been left in front at the last, by the fall of his only challenger, and therefore cruising to a 9 length win, it is always difficult to assess, but I used the only other finisher as a benchmark - having finished 5 lengths in front of Norbourne Bandit in his last run at Market Rasen, on similar terms, I thought it was reasonable to put Kikos up 4-5lbs as he stretched the distance between them to 9 lengths this time, so I was thrilled to see that he has only been put up 1 lb to a mark of 121, which should give us a good chance of going in again! Amazingly there are a couple of shares that have become available in this ultra consistent horse, who has now had 13 starts for us, winning 3, and finishing in the first 2 on no fewer than 8 occassions!!
