Friday 30 July
Yesterdays vetting went well, and Stuart is collecting our new horse this morning. He is called Robo, and is out of a half sister to the top class staying chaser Royal Auclair and by the same sire as the current champion of the staying hurdle ranks Big Bucks, along with other very good horses such as Fadalko,Lacdoudal,Majadou, and The Nightingale - not to mention the potential superstar Long Run!!.He originally cost £78,000 as a 3 yr old and has won and been placed twice in eight runs so far. He looks a super prospect for staying chases, and will come straight into work. We have spoken to plenty of people about him - and all say that he is a lovely horse that just needs a trip - as the pedigree would suggest. He finished second in his latest run in a 2m 3f Class 3 handicap hurdle in May, so the form is in the book - and we are all looking forward to getting him chasing over the winter. Limited shares are still available so call me on 07909 518902 for further details. Unfortunately my bid for the new 'club' horse was turned down yesterday, but we still may try and get him through the sales ring next week. Mattaking went to his new home on Wednesday and has settled in well - it is always nice to find these grand servants a nice retirement (it is almost as important, and difficult, as plotting their racing careers), and I am sure that Zoe will have many years of fun with him - she promises to keep us up to date with his activities. Kikos has come in from his half term holiday today, and will be gently brought back to full fitness. Bobby Gee will be cantering within a couple of weeks, and looks fantastic at the moment.
