We have managed to get a new horse for the Nick Brown Racing Club. We have secured a 3 year old called Omaruru, he is by Cape Cross (sire of Sea The Stars, and Ouija Board) and is the second foal of a mare called Monturani who was a listed winner, and was frequently placed in Group company on the flat, including winning the Oaks Trial at Newbury, and finishing second in the Windsor Forest Stakes at Royal Ascot. She finished with a rating of 104 on the flat, so she really was a high class race horse! This fellow really does have a top class pedigree, and standing 16.3hh he certainly has the size to go and make a mark over hurdles and eventually fences. Many thanks to Nick Sarsons who acted as my eyes and ears at todays sale, and his contacts in Mark Johnsons yard (where the horse was trained) were invaluable in ensuring that this boy was right for our job.He will be coming back to Fences Farm this afternoon, and be given a bit of an easy time while he undegoes some shooling sessions. I have no reason to think that this boy will not take to hurdling and I beleive 8 flights of timber may just bring the best out in him!Being by Cape Cross he should appreciate a bit of cut in the ground, and will be running over the winter. To join in the fun give me a call on 07909 518902, the costs are £400, plus £20/week all inclusive training fees.
