Tuesday 7 December
We hope the weather forecast is correct, and the rise in temperaure comes in time for the weekends action. Robo (Cheltenham Saturday) looks to have a job on his hands in what looks like a very hot Novices Chase. There are a number of high class entries, including last years World Hurdle second, Time For Rupert, who sources close to the horse have intimated is an intended runner on Saturday and not Friday. Also in the line up are Wayward Prince and Chicago Grey who have already shown very decent course form, so it will be a big ask. Bobby Gee is an intended runner at Lingfield Park. A winner there a fortnight ago, he has been raised 6 lbs in the handicap, and judging by the way he did it last time, with his ears pricked nearly all the way, he should go close. If the ground thaws and remains heavy that will not inconvenience him. Omaruru is entered at Fakenham on Sunday, in a race that has attracted the usual suspects he could go well if this big horse can take to the tight turns of the Norfolk venue. We have taken horses there before that we thought would love the place - namely the diminutive E Major, who being only a little over 15 hands we thought would be ideal to rail around the bends, but oddly it did not suit at all, although a big horse like Mattaking went very well around there, so it is not always an easy call.
