Friday 7 January
A really good day at the sports yesterday. We were thrilled with the performance of Omaruru in the Juvenile Hurdle, he travelled very well and jumped like a buck. He was outpaced on the run to 2 out but stayed on in real style after the last to finish fourth beaten 3 lengths. It was a very good run, in what I think was a pretty strong heat, run in a good time, and it looks as though a step up in trip, or a stiffer track will bring about untold improvement and enable him to get his head in front! A good turn out from his loyal band of owners who all had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, and we look forward to seeing them all again next month.Shares are still available!! Sunday Sharpner improved on his previous run and finished 9th in a very strong novices event, Jimmy was happy with the run. I am pleased to say that both horses seem fine this morning, Mrs Robeson informing me that Omar came home and has his head in his food 'up to his eyes'!! Remember to buy a copy of the Racing Post on Sunday, as they are doing a piece about Nick Brown Racing and Bobby Gee, who if he gets in the handicap will now run in the Totesport Classic Chase at Warwick a week tomorrow. It makes sense to try to land their £60,000 feature race of the year while he is in such good form and confidence is high!! It certainly beats going to Catterick for a total prize fund of £7k!! The only problem is that Tom O'Briens ban starts that day so he will be unable to ride, the hunt for a suitable jockey, that can do around 10 stone is on!! The piece in the Post on Sunday is under the I Gotta Horse feature. I hope it does us justice, I had a 20 minute phone call with Bruce Jackson from the paper last night, and I am sure he will have a tough job in constructing anything cohesive from my ramblings!! Best of luck Bruce!!
