Tuesday 17 February

Bobby Gee is entered at Sandown on Friday, but that looks a hot heat, so he will by-pass that. Yesterday he was entered at Carlisle over 3m 4f. Carlisle is a stiff old track, and sure to suit, but we can't run him for the disgusting prizemoney on offer!! Mondays renewal is a Class 3 affair, and the Horesemens Tarriff states that a race of this class on a Monday should carry a total prize fund of £7,085. Mondays race has total prizemoney of £5,000 with just over £3,000 going to the winner, and less than £1,000 going to the second placed horse! It is disgusting, and I just can't see the point in taking Bobby 3/4 of the way up the country to win virtually nothing after deductions. The same will apply at Wetherby the next day, who have the same level of prizemoney. All we have to do is wait a couple of days, and go back to Sandown in a 0-125 (Carlisle and Wetherby both 0-135) for £2000 extra prize money! We still have the option of the Eider (the day after Sandown) up our sleeve as well. Niki Royal, Kikos' full sister ran a good race at Newcastle yesterday. racing over 2m6f on heavy griund she took it up between the final 2 flights, but after a tired jump at the last, was beaten into second. from a distance it looked as though a combination of the trip and ground saw her lose out, and she should be winning races later on in the spring.Omaruru form was franked well at Folkestone yesterday, when Mr Muddle (1 length in front of him at Plumpton) won a decent Novices hurdle in good style, with Promised Wings who was tailed off behind us at Fontwell staying on very well for second.
