We were not alone in boycotting Wetherby due to their sorry prizemoney yesterday. There were only 102 entries for the seven race card, where 2 chases have had to be re-opened, on a card that fell almost £10,000 short of the Horsemens Tarriff, with none of the races reaching prize fund levels above the minimum. Contrast this with Taunton who gained 194 entries for their seven race meeting, that originally had prizemoney that fell below the threshold, but were sensible enough to put a few quid into the pot and have been well rewarded! The next puzzle comes at Sandown next week, where Bobby should have an entry. The tarriff for the race is set at £9,810 - but Sandown are currently offering just £7,000 - what to do??? At least the Eider is above the minimum, but it will need to be!! Ogee will not be declared for the rescheduled AON Chase tomorrow,as the ground has got significantly softer. He is in at Ascot on Saturday, or he could head to Doncaster next week.
