Thursday 21 April
Doncaster April sales today, with a large cross section of horses in training, from sprinters to 3 mile chasers, with a fair share of unraced horses thrown in. We had a target and I am thrilled to say we hit the bullseye! Our pick of the 160 odd horses was Colebrooke, a 3yr old bay gelding by Shamardal (5 times Group 1 winner inc Fench Derby) out of a half sister to a St Ledger winner who has already foaled two decent hurdlers as well as a host of high class horses on the flat! He is a lovely model, and is sure to give his new owners a great deal of fun when he starts over hurdles in the late summer/autumn. With a bit of luck he could be just the type for the Fred Winter!! The omens are good - he comes from the same source as Omaruru, so hopefully it is a lucky source of winners for us. Thanks to Nick Sarsons, who was once again my eyes and ears at the sale, he did the business with Omar, hope he's done it again!! I will know tonight if my negotiations over the National Hunt store horse have been fruitful. Keep dropping by to find out!
