Monday 18 July
Once again our man did us proud. Kikos ran a blinder, just getting nabbed on the line and going down by a nose! Over a slighlty longer trip, and on rain softened ground he just didn't quite get home, but did his very best. This wonderfully consistent horse has now finished either first or second in half of his races for us, and what fun he has given us. As one of his owners, Bob Graham said in an email today, 'we take for granted now that a) he will run a good race, and b) He'll be fit to run again in a months time. I hope he's about for a good time yet as he would be very difficult to replace.' Sentiments that are echoed by everyone! The good news is that he seems fine after the run, and will now be aimed at a 0-125 chase over 2m 1 1/2f at Stratford on August 18th. Omaruru will be ridden today for the first time since his op. He has been on the walker for a couple of weeks, and looks fantastic! Everything else is behaving itself, and it won't be long before they start cantering.
