Sunday 11 September

Stuart rode Omaruru yesterday in a very nice piece of work, and came back with a one word summary of what he thought - machine! We presume he was referring to Omar (and not himself), so things are looking very exciting for the forthcoming season with him! Kikos worked very well with Colebrooke and E Major, and after finding life so difficult to place him we have decided to give him a spin over a bit further, and he will go to Uttoxeter next Sunday over 2m 5f (Chase). The reasons for the decision are these; we have looked at running him in a hurdle race, but in novice races he could run up against some highly rated horses off of level weights - we enquired about his hurdles handicap mark hoping that it would only be a couple of pounds higher than it was when he was last assessed (100) but they came back and informed us that they would have him on 110 which ruled out 3 races we had planned for him. As he was flat out at Stratford last time, and for all the world looked like a step up in trip would help him we feel it is right to give him a go - if it works it will open up so many more opportunities for us. Also on Sunday Colebrooke will go to Plumpton for his second run over hurdles, and I would be expecting him to improve dramatically on his debut. Grey Bobby was also in great heart yesterday, and did the best piece of work I have ever seen from him. He worked alongside Omaruru, so had it all to do but he got stuck in and really tried - I love his attitude to life - a cheeky trier. He will be aimed at a maiden hurdle at Worcester on 23rd September. We now have all the names in from the members of The Ravenstone Partnership that wish to get involved in the naming of their horse, who is going very nicely, so I will be getting in touch with them all over the course of the next week so they can vote, and we will soon have him named. I am still looking for a couple more horses for clients, but you would not believe how hard it is to get the right one at the moment - the quest continues, but the autumn sales will be with us soon.
