Friday 9 December
No news yesterday, as I was feeling a little worse for wear! I do have a bit of a cold but that is not really the reason - it had slightly more to do with a heavy Wednesday night. Aiden Murphy (Where Robo and San Telm both came from)invited me to a Gentlemans Night Out evening in Birmingham. The charity gala dinner raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities across the Midlands and it was a very very good night. Yesterday was a struggle! Thanks Aiden. Back at home - Colebrooke is in rude health after getting stuck in the mud - we will look for another juvenile in slightly lest tacky ground. San Telm is in great order and, despite having entries next Tuesday and Wednesday he will go to Fakenham on Monday for a 2 mile National Hunt Maiden hurdle.Omaruru is in fine fettle, and continues to be ridden around the farm - he is not going on the roads as he keeps having a little pop at the cars! Smart Exit is being lined up for a run at Leicester on December 29th, but will be without regular pilot Sam Jones who yesterday picked up a 7 day whip ban! It was a great ride to win the bumper at Ludlow, but fell outside the rules so he got a ban and lost his percentage as well! Bad Luck! He will also miss the debut of Montegonian, who having scoped clean yesterday can now be cracked on with. I have found a race for him at Wetherby on December 27th for horses that have only run a maximum of once over hurdles - so it will be on a pretty level playing for all of them and looks an ideal starting point. If you would like a runner over the Christmas holiday then give me a call on 07909 518902 - £20/week is all it is!! We have more new faces to Fences Farm tomorrow to see the big grey gentle giant that is Montegonian so that will be fun!
