Tuesday 13 December

Yesterday we travelled with San Telm to Fakenham with the realisation that we were, in all probability, running a race for second place! We were spot on. When you see that you are one of 20 entries in a 2 mile National Hunt Maiden hurdle at Fakenham, and you think a bit of your horse you start to get a bit excited, then you take a look at the other runners and see one was placed in a Cheltenham listed bumper last time out and you hope they run it elsewhere! No such luck, we couldn't beat Jimbill yesterday - and we didn't! Still all the owners were on each way, and San Telm ran a cracker. In trying to put it up to the winner he has made life hard for himself, but he ran a good race and will be sharper for the experience. He seems fine this morning, and may well return to Fakenham on New Years day for another 2 mile maiden, which will hopefully not have any aeroplanes in the line up! Colebrooke has been dropped 3lbs by the handicapper to 127, and to celebrate the fact he is being very cheeky. His jockeys are having to sit very tight and he will be doing himself a mischief before very much longer! For that reason he will be entered today for 2 juveniles next Monday (19th) at Bangor On Dee and Plumpton. Montegonian will do a sharper piece of work later today, which should go well - I will update you on how he goes tomorrow.
