Wednesday 14 December

Yesterday Montegonian did his first faster piece of work since his arrival and did it very nicely. He looks a real galloper and with his size and scope he is tailor made for hurdling and eventually chasing. He will be winning races! Colebrooke has entries at Plumpton (heavy with heavy rain forecast - but 1st race) and Bangor On Dee (good to soft and looks like missing the worst of the weather but it is the fifth race) on Monday. With Jamie Moore still on the sidelines we will make a decision regarding jockeys later in the week after a chat with his owners. On the subject of sidelined jockeys - there seems to be quite a few that will be having Christmas off games - Jamie (broken collarbone) Choc Thornton (broken upper arm) Kieth Mercer (broken arm) Graham Lee (double fracture of collarbone) Richie Killoran (collarbone) (- and Sam (banned)). We wish them all a very speedy return to the saddle! And wish that Sam had kept his hands on the reins! Christmas looks like being a very busy time for everyone at Fences Farm - With four mares in the yard at the moment they are usually hunting around for mares races, but incredibly there are 4 over Christmas so they can all run without taking each other on which is great. Smart Exit, Montegonian and Aeschylus ( George Hartigan and David Oldrey) will also be out over the coming weeks as well!
