Saturday 26 May

A night of near misses yesterday. Kikos was second at Towcester. He ran another good race, but was touched off on his first run over hurdles for 4 years. He travelled and jumped well, but was well held in the end. He seems fine this morning and has enjoyed a morning in the warm sunshine.A large band of his owners had a great time in the sun on Ladies Night! His next run will be in Market Rasen, back over fences in early July. Kikos was the first near miss, the others were down at the sales in Cheltenham where we failed to secure our 'Saturday' horse. Aiden Murphy had highlighted a couple of likely candidates, but unfortunately they both just exceeded the budget. I will now trawl through the Doncaster catalogue for their sale next week. We did hit the spot with one, and I purchased Tannerman from the Philip Hobbs yard. He is a fine big stamp of a horse, who is in fact a 3 parts brother to the former top chaser Turpin Green. He has had only a handful of outings and looks a really nice horse. Thanks to Michael and Fiona who brought him back from the sales last night, and delivered him to Fences Farm this morning. Alice has had a canter on him third lot, and he is a real gentleman - a gentle giant, and she has christened him Ted. Shares are available if anyone is interested, if so give me a call or send me an email 07909 518902, info@nickbrownracing.co.uk First lot we were out at Towcester racecourse. A band of early birds (yes I was late) gathered to watch Tara Dancer under Sam do a nice swinging piece with Stuart on The Fonz. TD handled it all very well, and was understandably green at the end of her work, but she did it nicely. The Fonz worked very well, and will soon be getting an entry. All in all a good day, with plenty to look forward to!!
