No I am not falling into the trap........... Oh yes I am! HAPPY DAYS! The Fonz won well last night! It was a busy night with 4 runners in Southwell, and everything went just about to plan. First up was The Fonz, in the 2m 4f handicap hurdle. This well bred, former smart flat performer had seemed right back to his best since his winter break and won well of his mark of 104. Taking it up turning in he won nicely by 4 1/2 lengths, and there should be some fun to be had with him through the summer on his favoured quicker ground. Ogee and E Major were next to go. Unfortunately the summer jumps programme forced them both into the same race, but both ran with credit. Ogee towed the field along and thoroughly enjoyed his first spin back over hurdles form a few years. He just got tired turning in, but he has shown that he retains his heart and can go on from here over hurdles. E Major sporting a visor for the first time over hurdles travelled and jumped very well. He went to sleep last time in Aintree, but last night he woke up and ran a super race to be fourth. He is still a bit high in the handicap, but Tom O'Brien has suggested that although he is not vey big, it would certainly be a good move to run him over fences, as he feels sure there will be races to be won with him in that sphere. Tara Dancer was last to go in the bumper. She ran just about as expected, although I would have liked to see her a bit closer up at the end. She is a gorgeous filly, but very tall and weak, and will benefit enormously for time. She behaved superbly in the prelims, but ran very green in the race. She was still with them as they turned out of the back, but her lack of strength told in the straight where Sam looked after her. All the horses seem to be fine this morning which is the main thing, although TD didn't eat up last night (not surprising). All of her owners seemed to have a good night, helped by TF doing the biz. So we can all look forward to our next outing, which is the Cricket on June 22nd!
