Terence Jenner, and Howard Cooke have been members of our syndicates, and in Terences case Racing Club, for a couple of years now, and both have witnessed the highs and lows of the sport. The pair both had a share in the very very talented but ill fated Robo, and they also have shares in the exciting pair, San Telm, and Smart Exit. A few months ago they got together and charged me with the task of finding them a horse that would hopefully take their ownership experience up a notch. They had tasted the high life, all be it very briefly with Robo, and they wanted to repeat the dose! It has taken a while, but finally I think we have got the job done, and I am pleased to announce the arrival of Benefit Cut, who will run in their joint names. Benefit Cut is a 6 yr old bay gelding, by top sire Beneficial, out of I'm Maggy, a winner both on the flat, and over hurdles. I'm Maggy has bred thre winners, including the prolific I'm A Legend, and I'moncloudnine who was third in a Welsh National. BC has had one run, a bumper in Market Rasen that he won in a manner that suggests he could be very smart. The form is rock solid, with a host of bumper/Irish Point To Point winners and placed horse in behind him. BC, as you can see from the photo is a very good looking horse, with a pedigree and performance to match - so we have very high hopes for him. We wish Howard and Terence the very best of luck with him. Talking of taking things up a notch, the mighty Frankel did that yesterday in York. Asked to go 10 furlongs for the first time he destroyed a class field in the International Stakes. He is the best horse that I have ever seen, and I think I will have to live a long time to see another as good. I am sure he could win at the highest level over trips from 6 furlongs to a mile and a half! He has now beaten the winners of 45 Group 1's,39 Group 2's, 32 Group 3's and 18 listed races, each by an average of 5.7 lengths. A super horse, and one that shows all that is good about our great sport!! Sir Henry Cecil has campaigned this horse with masterful skill, and it was lovely to see him there to welcome back his superstar, despite being in the grip of treatment for a serious illness. Frankel and Sir Henry are both wonderful ambassadors for flat racing, and we wish the latter a very speedy recovery!
