San Telm got the winning ways rolling yesterday with a gritty and gutsy display at Haydock. The form of his previous run in Fontwell had been very well franked, and it was no surprise to see him run very well. Tom O'Brien took over from Sam, and was delighted with the horse, commenting on how uncomplicated he was and adding that he will continue to run well, and, in his opinion make a bonny little chaser! All good to hear as it give us a great range of options with him over the rest of the season! He has return well, and seems ok this morning, despite feeling the effects of another horse standing on his joint at some stage during the race. There are no definite plans as yet, but options include a couple of races at The Open Meeting, or a return to Haydock the week after. Smart Exit has been declared in the boys race in Wetherby tomorrow with good young conditional Tom Bellamy taking a valuable 5lbs off his back. He is in good order, but this looks a competitive heat for the grade, and realistically a place would be great. We can then assess where we go from there. Jamie Moore has asked to ride Colebrooke back at Wetherby on Friday, so it looks as though he will be back in the plate, which on a busy Saturday is a plus! Grassfinch runs in Uttoxeter tomorrow, only 7 runners with 2 decent mares in there, but she will run well. Genny Wren and Reyno are entered in Huntingdon on Sunday, but Tannerman will wait until their meeting on the 13th.Benefit Cut is 2 weeks away from a run. A busy few days ahead, and lets hope it carries on in the same vein as yesterday - the win made a horrible journey home a lot more bearable!! Thanks to Toby Connors who braved the elements to photograph yesterdays sports and kindly allowed me to use some for the blog!
