Monday 28 January
After the recent spell of cold, snow and rain, tomorrows Lingfield jumps meeting was swapped to a Jumpers Bumper card on the all weather surface. We hade a good look at the card on Saturday morning and decided to pop in a few entries. Colebrooke was due to run over hurdles in Taunton (abandoned) and Leicester (doubtful if they will stage the hurdle races) this week, so, after speaking to his part owner Ben Turner this morning, we took the decision to give him a spin on the flat. He will sport cheekpieces for the first time. Also making the trip will be Grassfinch and The Fonz so it should be a good day out! We have also had to have a little rethink with San Telm. We had hoped to find a nice mid week opportunity for him somewhere to give him a good chance of getting another win under his belt, but unfortunately the opportunities keep falling foul of the weather, so today we have entered him in a very valuable handicap in Sandown, and a normal handicap in Wetherby (Both on Saturday). The Sandown race will be pretty hot, but 2m 6f on soft ground around there will be right up his street, and he should scrape in the bottom of the handicap off a feather weight which will be a big plus on heavy ground which we know he handles! If he doesn't get in the weights in Sandown we have the option of going to Wetherby instead, or there are options at Doncaster or Newbury the week after. Smart Exit came through his first proper piece of work on Saturday with no ill effects, so it is all systems go for him and hopefully he will get to go to Huntingdon next week (will know more after he has worked tomorrow).Ogee ran a blinder to be 5th on the all weather in Kempton on Friday, he was given a fair bit to do, but stayed on in striking fashion, and everybody was thrilled with his run, he will be back on the turf over hurdles when the ground gets better. He has come out of his race in great form.Tannerman is in great form and worked very well on Saturday - he is entered this week in Towcester but will not run on heavy ground. He will continue to have entries over both hurdles and fences.
