Monday 11 February

A very satisfactory piece of work from San Telm on Saturday has meant that he will get entries in Haydock and Wincanton on Saturday. In Haydock there is a 3 mile Pertemps Qualifier, and in Wincanton he will be in a 2m 6f Handicap Hurdle. We will look at the opposition and the ground conditions at both tracks before making a decision as to where he will be running. He will be the only runner this week as Ogee looks like missing his next target due to heavy ground. Tannerman is fine after his run, and will now be aimed at a Southwell meeting on March 4th, where there are 2 races for him. Another that may make the trip to Nottinghamshire that day is Norse Wren, who has come out of his run on Saturday in Uttoxeter in good form. The ground at the Staffordshire track on Saturday was simply horrible, and NW, who comes from a family that seem to show their best form on a sound surface looked to hate it. At least he jumped round this time which was the main aim, and after another run, he will be eligible for handicaps. Ogee is in great form. Smart Exit is fine after his run and we may look at going to Lingfield with him later this month (27th).Benefit Cut seems in good order, and will start to have entries from around the 20th onwards, but will only run where the ground is suitable as he doesn't like soft going! Colebrooke is on the easy list for a couple of weeks, and is off to the vets again this afternoon so they can give him another check over and treat a possible small problem in his hind quarters. Nothing major, but it will keep him off games for a short while. We mixed it with the good and the great of the Racehorse Syndication world yesterday - in the Sunday Telegraph Money supplement. Highclere Thoroughbred Racing's Harry Herbert flew the flag for Flat Syndicate Ownership and it was down to me to state the case for Jumps racing. It was a full page, well written piece by Charlotte Breugge, and seems to have gone down well! Just nice to be asked!
