Sunday 14 April

Carolina Wren made her racecourse debut at a damp Uttoxeter yesterday. Racing for the first time in the concluding mares bumper she ran a fine race to be third. She was very green to begin with, but learnt all the way round, and up the straight she showed all the traits of the family by really digging in and running right to the line. I think it was a decent mares event and the form will stack up - so all in all everybody was very pleased with the run. Overnight rain meant that work was off the agenda for me yesterday, but it did enable me to see the horses do their bit. Tannerman did two canters and all being well he will quicken up next week and be back on track in 10 days to a fortnight. Benefit Cut did an eyecatching piece of work tucked in behind The Fonz and Reyno. BC missed his entry in Wincanton today due to the soft conditions, and we will now look at Kempton on Tuesday where he has a very low ballot figure but there are plenty of the entered runners that will have run over the weekend, and he may squeak in the maximum field limit! Reyno has an entry in Fontwell on Friday where Stuart will try to avoid the mishap that occurred on his visit to there last Thursday!! He continues to mend!
