Todays news involves two effs. Form, and Fonz. The Fonz takes the trip to Worcester tonight - if they don't get too much rain, and the ground stays on the quick side he should run well. He will be sporting blinkers for the first time to help him travel, which could make a big difference. He was like a different horse in first time cheekpieces a couple of runs back, and if the blinds have the same effect he will run very well. He worked well on Saturday. Brendan Powell (who is looking forward to playing cricket for the NBR XI) takes the ride! The second eff, is for Form. The form of Guest Of Honour's last bumper run in Exeter was franked last night when the winner of that race ran a stormer to be nabbed in the final 1/2 furlong to finish second, under a penalty, in Southwell. The winning jockey said he felt it was a decent performance by the winner (who is a half brother to a top class horse and had run second on debut), as he felt the second was a decent horse! I have always felt that the form of the Exeter bumper was pretty good, so to see the winner go very close again, and a horse that was well behind GOH finish third in one a couple of weeks ago, is very pleasing. We are delighted with our new boy, and feel that Guest Of Honour is a very exciting addition to the team and can't wait to get him going! This delightful horse is enjoying his holiday and will be back in harness in July. While on the subject of GOH - we welcome his two latest owners - Malcolm and Lindsay Taylor who were the successful bidders in the Charity Auction at the Broom Charity Ball on Saturday. They will spend a year with GOH and Tara Dancer, and we wish them plenty of luck and success in their first venture into ownership!!
