Sunday 23 June

What a performance! Mrs Robeson found herself in the Royal Ascot winners enclosure on Friday, thanks to a scintillating performance from her new Star. Hillstar who she both bred and owns with her brother was victorious in the King Edward VII Stakes, a Group 2 race known as the Ascot Derby. Trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by Ryan Moore, Hillstar didn't, on paper, have the profile of a Group 2 winner going into the race, having been beaten in 2 handicaps, but there were reasons for these defeats and Ryan Moore had always said that the horse would be seen in a far better light in a better race, and he was right. Coming from last to first he beat Battle of Marengo, who had been 4th in the Epsom Derby by a length. Mrs Robeson was elated, and, as ever, understatedly announced that 'he could be quite good'. A thrill for all involved in the horse, especially the staff at Mrs Robeson's Southcourt Stud where Hillstar was bred. Back on the hill yesterday morning, and a quiet one. We watched Tara Dancer do 2 canters nicely alongside Ogee. She is coming along very nicely and Stuart is very pleased with her. Yesterday mornings exercise can be seen by going to http://www.youtube.com/user/NickBrownRacing and the good news is that there are still a limited number of shares available in her - and taking a share in her gets you a FREE share in our new purchase Guest Of Honour!! Both horses come as 1 package for an all inclusive £20/week! See The For Sale page for further details and call 07909 518902/01234 771940 to book a place in the Racing Club.
