Ogee, or 'The Legend' as he is known at Fences Farm was raised 2lbs by the handicapper yesterday to a hurdles mark of 136. Ogee has certainly earned his 'Legend' status, as the figures show! The evergreen ten year old has run 49 times, on the flat, over hurdles, over fences, and even in a bumper (jumpers bumper). He has won 11 times - 3 on the flat, 5 over hurdles and 3 chases. He was ridden on the flat by some of the best including K Fallon, R Moore and F Dettori, since switching to Fences Farm and his National Hunt Career he has been partnered by Jimmy McCarthy for all of his 34 starts! It really was fitting that Jimmy should bring the curtain down on his career on an Ogee victory! Ogee has amassed over £150,000 in win and place prizemoney, and gave Mrs Robeson the biggest win of her training career to date when victorious in the Grade 1, Sefton Novices Chase at Aintree's Grand National meeting. His new mark of 136 is probably a couple of pounds less than I expected and I do feel that he is capable of going close off of that mark again. His run at Southwell has proven once and for all that he can handle a bit of cut in the ground (Paddy Brennan reported the ground to be like Good to Soft winter ground after his ride on Tara Dancer), and in fairness at his age he probably needs a bit of juice in the ground so that he is not run off his legs early - he is not getting any faster! With this in mind he will now be kept on the go throughout the Autumn and winter and enjoy a few nice days out! He will of course have a change of jockey for his next outing, but I am sure there will be plenty of the lads wanting to get the ride on - 'The Legend'! In share news - there are only a couple of shares left in Omaruru, and I think the remaining share in our exciting new addition Guest Of Honour will be gone by the close of play today!!
