Friday 25 October
Sorry for the lack of news the last couple of days, but the good news is that the season seems to have kicked off proper now, and we are well in the swing of things. San Telm ran a very nice race on Wednesday in Fontwell. Over the longest trip he has tackled thus far, and on some pretty soft ground he ran a corking seasonal debut to be fourth. Unfortunately hampered on the turn out of the back straight, just as he was making his move while travelling the best, he lost all his rhythm, and it was hard work for him after that. he did tire after the second last, and will come on slightly for the run. Brendan was very pleased with him, and he will now go chasing. He came out of his race in good order. benefit Cut went to Southwell yesterday, to test Paddy Brennan's theories. After riding him in Market Rasen last month paddy had said step him up to 2 1/2 miles, find some softer ground, and if you casn't find a chase - find a fixed brush hurdle race. Southwell yesterday fitted the bill perfectly, and it very nearly worked. BC loves to bowl along, and was 15 lengths clear most of the way. he was caught at the last, but kept on for a very game second beaten just 2 1/2 lengths with a further 17 lengths back to the third. It was a very good performance, and Paddy was hugely impressed with the run, and has given us a few more pointers to the future. He will also go chasing now! Colebrooke will be declared for the handicap hurdle in Stratford tomorrow. Andrew Tinkler will have his first ride for the yard. Both of his owners - Ben and Jay will be 'at the day job' so will not be able to make it unfortunately, but we are hoping that their horse is somewhere near back to his best, and will run a nice race in first time blinkers. We would like to welcome David Everall into the fold. David has taken the last share in Guest Of Honour, and we wish him luck with his first venture into ownership. Guest Of Honour has an entry in Bangor on Monday, but will not make the trip. He will have entries next week, and we will take in the best option.
