Monday 4 November
We are hoping for better things today when Smart Exit makes his seasonal debut in Plumpton, as yesterday did not go well to say the least. Starting with Exit - he should run well, the ground has gone to heavy, fences suit him much better than hurdles, and the trip is fine. Cheekpieces on - he should jump and travel well and be in the mix. Yesterday Guest Of Honour let us down. Initially we suspected a very rotten attitude, but after the race, Stuart was not happy with the horse and instructed the racecourse vet to scope him. The vet found that he had burst a blood vessel, the effect of which - in his words, were 'certainly performance inhibiting'. GOH will have medication to try and eliminate a repeat. Reyno is due to run in Towcester on Thursday.
