Friday 8 November
Yesterday AP McCoy rode his 4000th winner in Towcester - A fantastic achievement from him. A fantastic ambassador for our sport - a true sportsman, and gentleman. The atmosphere there yesterday was electric, and judging by some of the sights that pitched up there this morning, the celebrations back at the pub in Marlborough that the Champ co owns went on well into the small hours. Rumour has it that Carl Llewellyn arrived in Marlborough in the afternoon in anticipation - he certainly looked like he had this morning!! JP McManus showed what a proper man he is yesterday as well - buying everyone at the races a drink to celebrate, and standing the tab in the pub at night!!! We were in Towcester this morning to give Omaruru a racecourse gallop, which he did very nicely. He had a good outing, quickened up for the final 7 furlongs and eased past the post in good style. He looked to have thoroughly enjoyed himself!! Second lot and Colebrooke schooled very well, he really has taken to fences well. He is in superb form, but will miss his engagement in Market Rasen on Sunday, as we are never happy to be running from out of the weights. There are nice races ahead and he will continue to get entries. The ground at Huntingdon on Tuesday looks like it could get very juicy for Benefit Cut, and he is another that could well end up being out of the handicap, and for that reason he has been entered in Ludlow next Thursday. He will also have entries going forward.
