Sunday 24 November
Smart Exit ran an honourable and brave race yesterday in the inaugural running of the Cambridgeshire National in Huntingdon. A novice having just his third run over fences, and up against seasoned old campaigners, he absolutely tried his best, and finished a very brave and honourable third. He was very tired after the marathon event, but seems fine this morning. He will have a few days off to recover before we look for a race for him over the Christmas period. Guest Of Honour is declared to run in Ludlow tomorrow, (racetime 1.45). Brendan Powell has been booked to do the steering, and blinkers will be applied to try and eek out a little grit out of him. We know he has the talent, as he works like a very nice horse at home, and tomorrow will be an acid test to see if he is willing to show us the same form on the track - if not - there could be changes!! Genny Wren also makes the journey, and makes her chasing debut. I will not be able to make the trip tomorrow, due to commitments locally, but I hope those that do make it to Ludlow have an enjoyable day!! A quieter few days from Tuesday, but Reyno could well go to Uttoxeter on Thursday.
