Friday 10 January
I have had to be very self disciplined this morning!! Colebrooke had an entry in a Grade 2 Novice Chase in Warwick tomorrow, he would be about 20lbs wrong at the weights, but with limited options for him going forward we decided that he would run if there were no more than 4 runners (including him), which meant he would have picked up a few quid if he completed. I have tracked the declarations this morning, and with 4 declared from 9.00am it has been tempting to pop him in! But, if you set yourself a limit you have to stick to it, and if we had have taken the jump and popped him in there would be 5 runners - he would be the outsider of the field - and would only pick up just over £400 for his owners. Looking at it on a risk and reward basis, we felt it was better to wait for his next possible target in Fakenham in a couple of weeks time. Everything continues in good order - all on schedule for next weekend, with Benefit Cut, Smart Exit, and possibly San Telm all having engagements. Dawn Commander is in great order, he is a very athletic individual, with plenty of life in him, and is a pleasure to have! he certainly wants to get on with life and seems to be thoroughly enjoying his time at Fences Farm! Maypole Lass' form got a nice boost yesterday in Catterick - the first 3 home in the opener have all finished behind her at once stage or another - so her form looks rock solid. She is on a short break and will be out again when there is a bit better ground about.
