The team at Fences Farm really do have them in fantastic order!! Yesterday Carolina Wren added to the seasons tally with an unexpected, and ultimately easy win in Huntingdon. CW was third on her debut in a bumper which at the time I thought was decent form, although it has not worked out as such. On hurdling debut she was found to have a serious breathing problem and had an op which seems to have worked the trick. She ran a nice race on her previous appearance in Ludlow, and although she was fit and well it did look as though she would struggle to beat the two market principles yesterday. CW is very tough, and the trip and ground really suited her, and probably cost the other two. Given a lovely quiet ride by Sam Jones, she jumped superbly and won a shade cosily. She will now head to the final of the mares novice series in March. Today Native Princess gets her turn. This beautifully bred young lady has been working nicely with Carolina Wren, but has never stepped foot on the turf, and not had a racecourse gallop, so it will be a big learning curve for her, in what looks a hot race. Sam Twiston Davies rides. Tomorrow Colebrooke is reunited with Brendan Powell in Kempton (4.25). Brendan got a real tune out of Ben and Jays little hero when they were last together in Sandown in C's juvenile year, and hopefully he will get a good spin off of him tomorrow. It looks very trappy with three making handicap debuts so a placed finish would be fantastic! Sunday, Smart Exit goes to Towcester, and Tom O'Brien takes over from Josh Moore who has to be in Fontwell. Tom knows the horse well, and he should go well, as Towcester seems to be a course he loves. Take The Mick is a big danger as he gets in without a penalty after a facile success on Wednesday, but he did get a bit wound up that day, and it could be a big ask for him to double up, although his trainer Venetia Williams is a dab hand at doing it with them, and her team are in equally good form!!
