Wednesday 12 March
Day 2 of The Cheltenham Festival, and I have all my fingers and toes crossed that Sire De Grugy can lift The Champion Chase. It would be a fantastic result for the Moore Family, and thoroughly deserved for this hard working, straight talking, very talented family!! A great day there yesterday, and fantastic to see Brendan Powell get his second festival winner on Present View in the last - another very talented young man! This morning Smart Exit schooled with benefit Cut. SE had the visors applied - all season he has been working like a really nice horse at home, but somehow on the racecourse he makes himself look very slow and ordinary - the visors did seem to make a difference on his second go up the chase fences and he will be sporting them the next time he runs. Hopefully a bit of better ground will suit him as well. Benefit Cut has been enjoying the spring sunshine and schooled up the big fences this morning and was his usual 'electric' self. He is still earmarked to run in Ascot later this month. Ereyna goes to Huntingdon this afternoon, this low grade handicap will be much more to her liking, and I must say that I thought she worked really well on Saturday, she could be worth a very small, each way investment. Sam Jones rides.
